He was also Professor of Dermatology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine for 30 years. He worked as a physician in Kansas City from 1905 until his retirement in 1940. Sutton was born in Rock Port, Missouri the son of John Grant Sutton, and his wife, Virginia Robertson. He lived in Kansas City, Missouri, where he had a private practice specializing in dermatology.
